The joint & Several Answers of Mary V.S. Hunley
Peter F Uunley Ann C. Hunley & Random
Honley, infants under trhe age of twenty
one years of age by their guardian ad
letene Daniel M. Fosney to the Bill of
Complainet of Lucy Hunley Complanent

This defendant as guardian he,
saving & reserving to himself all right &
benefit of exception & advantage whatever
to said bill of complaint he,
answering saith, that the said infant
defendant Mary V. S. Hunley claims as
belonging to & as her property the said
slaves mentioned in said bill of complant
of complainant viz, Polly & Adeline.
That the said infant defendant
Peter F. Hunley claims as his property,
the said slaves mentioned in said bill
of complaint viz, Lawson & Tilly. That
the said infant defendant Ann C. Hunley,
claims as belonging to & as her property the
other two negro slaves named in said bill
of complaint, Phil & Julia. That portion
their defendant is ignorant of the matters
& things charged in said Bill of complaint
& wholly denies them & begs that strict proof
may be required of them as therein continued
by their Honorable Court. And this
defendant as guardian [ilegible] Humbly
submits the rights & interest of these several infant
defendants to the protection of
this Honorable Court.
