To J. C. Williams Commandant of County first class militia—
On the forgoing pages I present you with the roll of Beat no 2. I have omitted the names of some five men who are residing in this beat of the proper age to belong to this class of Militia but as they are all acting for the State of Mississippi under special detail from Govr Clark I concluded to let them remain until Special orders from Govr Watts, I subdivided the Company into squads for patrol duty and but three have as yet reported having performed duty as patrols a perfect organization if it could be effected would doubtless tend to a more prompt & faithful discharge of this important duty.
Respectfully Your obt Svt J W Faith Comm Beat no 2 Washington County
