To His Exelence Andrew B Moore, Governer of the State of Alabama
We the undersigned Citizens of the County of Blount and State of Alabama respectfully represent to your exelence, that we are acquanted with Horatia Anderson who was at the Spring Term of the circuit Court for the County of Blount and State of Ala, convicted for man Slauter in 2nd degree and sentensed to the penatentiary for the term of three years, where he now confined. He is only son of a poor widow to whoam alone She looked to for a support dependant alone indeed was she an his labor for a support, But now depriv of that by the unfortunate circumstance above stated. We further state that the circumstances which brought about the Slaying was brought about by the words and acts of the deceasd, It was shown by proof that the decd had bantered to fight and followed up, and tantalised the Said Anderson, until he was forsed to fight and under fear of being abused struck the unfortunate blow, and we being acquainted with all the circumstances and the dependance of the Mother Humbly pray your Exelency to releas said Anderson, if not fully in part and in duty bound will ever pray this 20th July 1858

Executive Department Montgomery Alabama December 15th 1858
The convict Horatio Anderson, mentioned in the foregoing petition, is pardoned & the balance of his term of imprisonment remitted at the earnest solicitation of the Solicitor who presented him. My serious doubts as to the propriety of his conviction, and for other reasons set forth in his letter; as well as in consideration of the reasons mentioned in the foregoing petition.
