My dear Senators,

Reference is made to your request in behalf of Mr. J.B.Pate
of Amboy, Georgia, for the Revolutionary War record of Jacob Parkerson,
who served in the Virginia Troops and received a pension.

The record of that soldier is given herein as found in the papers
on file in pension claim, S. 31902, based upon his service in
the Revolutionary War. No one applied for pension as the widow of
this soldier.

Jacob Parkerson was born March 3, 1961, in Northampton County,
Virginia. The names of his parents are not shown.

While residing in said Northampton County, he enlisted in the
fall of 1777, as a private in the Captain Smith's Company,

Regiment, marched to Pennsylvania, wintered at Valley Forge, and
with his brother, name not given, who was a sargeant in Captain
John Craddock's Company, of the 2" North Carolina Regiment, said Jacob
exchanged placed with a soldier of that company and regiment and
joined Captain Craddock's Company which was then under the command
of General Wayne; soldier was at the storming of Stony Point after
which his company was ordered south: on the march, the solider
was taken sick and remained in Virginia until he recovered his health,
then went south to rejoin his company and regiment, but instead
attached himself to the light horse under the command of Colonal
Caswell in the North Carolina Troops: he stated that the entire
length of his service was four years and six months.

He was allowed pension on his application executed April 20,
1836, while residing in Pulaski County, Georgia.
