2. Granton Doc bet me a new hat (Christie or any kind at all) that the war would be over by 'Xmas of that year, but guess he meant all over - the world. When four or five girls are gathered togoether the devil is sure in their midst.

You are having more excitement in Granton than we are having ever here.

Take it from me you would all be bankrupt if another like me was to come to your fine table supper at 5c per. You know Sis when out of the line I eat about 17 times per day.

The gasoline stove works overtime and at present my mate is frying some pork chops, ten minutes ago I was making toast fried in bacon fat. I eat so many eggs that the shell is beginning to form. If you want to hear a choir come around some night after there has been a rum issue. This of course means when

3. we haven't had an issue for 2 weeks.

You never mention the Branion girls. Have any of the bankers succumbed yet?

Well Sis we are still out of the line and training faithfully, so when our time comes we ought to be able to give a good account of ourselves.

I have a fountain pen now but it is too cold to use it, and then Sis a pencil is much quicker. I sure do want to catch up with my mail.

Have had my pork chops and they were jake. Of course Sis we don't always eat like this - only when circumstances permit. Sometimes it is mighty good thing we don't have to pay postage. Eat, drink, be merry today because - oh! why talk of tomorrow.

4. 99 on one, well it used to be some kind of a garment, but as I was saying I had to will the big ones so they in turn would not crush the little ones.

Am glad to hear that you all are well.

This will be all for now Sis. Be sure you use your pen more freely especially on me. "Somewhere" in a very vague place, but outside of this it is a hell of a place. This is its only good point. [two arrows on either side of the word point]
