8. this old lady thinks thinks [??] is my aunt so says "my but what a dear old lady your Aunt must be."

She is going to write to her as my Aunt, & wants to know if the adress is 12 Washington or 40 Coyoga St, so to make the thing complete I'm going to give her the last address.

Sox dry, boots - nearly, one epistle written and 17 to write. Wonder what makes this old world go around?

Remember me to all, & give them my - don't like to write it. Just finished in time as the play has re opened again

Somewhere Aug 17th /17 Dear Sis: Your epistle of the 8th ult. received last night and was glad to hear from you again. I have not seen Oliver yet but had a letter from him a couple of days ago. He is with the same bunch as I am but is a few miles up from here, however I will try to leave home to see him some of these days. Ministers' sons are bad rations for Herman to knock around with. Generally speaking they do not do what their daddy says to do, but according to his name he is not a climber, but rather something to be climbed Guess Herman can get a pair of spurs eh? I sure do remember the Orangeman's service three years ago. The preacher put over the barrage so nice and easy and yet the Orangemen were badly routed. Poor dears, a little salt on their tails and their feathers would have remained unruffled.

2 We have had a great deal of rain for the last few weeks, so much so that many times I've wished for web feet as well as Webb Equipment. There must be a rain syllabus, because the taps are turned on about the same time every day. If Jessie was celebrating, she might have sent me a little conversation water or grenadine. I'm sure I would do as much for her. Will you please convery to Her Highness my sincere congratulations and manifestations of good will, on her second to highest aspiration being an acccomplished fact. (With a woman the highest aspiration is a two legged man.) I have heard from Ione lately and she advised that a school appeared by magic in Parkhill, and that the Lord Mayor of that burg came down in his coach and four and implored Jessie to come and teach the sadly uneducated kids in the art of +, x, :/ - etc. Tell her not to forget to sing "The National Anthem" every morning, and during prayers to be a Presayterian

and not read them out of a book. All joking aside Sis I'm sure glad the kid did so well, and am sure that when the holidays come around next summer her school will give a good account of itself. If I was near her now I sure would bring a fine glow to her cheeks with my dear little troublesome whiskers. Tom Hill will have to step some now eh? If Jessie studied botany she ought to be able to advise Thomas in the art of growing. It is a good thing Jessie + Allan are such pals because there might have been a thunderstorm in the buggy as well as in the air. I see the marriage pestilence is up your way. "Keep your head down" Sis: If he is jake, I wont object, but if he is one of these Jenny Junes look out for me. You must have some minister to make Uncle Scott more in a hurry. He is in fashion anyway, as growing hair nowadays is an absolute crime-- on account of the war. You said green (lettuce) would becoming. Well Sis dont wear blue like I
