OFFICE OF
GEO. W. WILLIAMS
Attorney-at-Law and Notary Public
222 1/2 West Markham Street
(Old Bank Building)
LITTLE ROCK, ---ARK.

April 1st 1887

Mr. John T Stark
Orange, Texas

Sir-
On the 25th day of last Feb.
you wrote a letter to G. W. Van Etten
of this place, in which you desired him
to go before a notary & give his deposi-
tion in the case of Russell et al vs Flelston
et al pending in the U. S. court of Gal-
veston. You did not send any money
but desired the matter attended to act
once you said in the letter "and notify
me the amount of your notary fees
and I will remit at once"
I attended to the matter sir, at once,
& refused to send the deposition C.O.D.
as was suggested to me. I acted upon
the supposition that you were a
gentleman - of your word - & would not
cheat a man out of so small an amount.
Since that time I have written you two letters
prior to this one wich you never not been
kind enough to favor me with a reply
