Biographical Note: Both the McFarland and the Russell families have their roots in early East Texas. In 1871, the two families came together with the marriage of Robert Everett Russell (b. Oct. 10, 1847, d. May 24, 1922) and Catherine Christine McFarland (b. July 2, 1849, d. Oct. 17, 1888), the daughter of Thomas S. McFarland. Description: From Lillie to her aunt, C.C. Russell. She discusses family members health, how she is going to be a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding, and that he father has had to buy corn because of the lack of rain. She also talks about how her siblings are going to school but she will no longer be attending. Lillie asks her aunt about why Mr. Fogger is in jail.
