William M. Martin to Martha W. Clark, bill of sale. Filed for record February the 8th, A. D. 1851. John Moore, Deputy Clerk, Newton County. The State of Texas, Newton County } Know all men by these presents that I, William M. Martin, guardian of the property and persons of the minorship of Artemus Watson, deceased, for the consideration of three hundred and fifty dollars paid to me by Martha W. Clark, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have this day bargained and sold and do by these presents bargain, sell and release unto the said Martha W. Clark Tom, aged ten years old, a slave for life. I, William M. Martin, do covenant [and] agree with my wards and my heirs to relinquish all right, title, interest [and] claim in and to the said slave to Martha W. Clark, her heirs, administrators, and assigns. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my name and made my scrawl by way of seal this 7th day of February A. D. 1851. William M. Williams, Chief Justice of said county, William M. Martin, and acknowledged his signature to the foregoing bill of sale to be his voluntary act and deed. Isaac McMahan and wife to William J. Robinson, deed. Filed for record May the 18, A. D. 1851, 9 o'clock A. M. John Moore, Deputy Clerk, County Court, Newton County. The State of Texas, County of Newton } Know all men by these presents that we, Isaac McMahan and Frances McMahan of the County of Newton and state aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of four thousand dollars to us in hand paid by William J. Robinson, a citizen of Newton County and state aforesaid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted and sold and by these presents do grant and sell and convey unto the said William J. Robinson, his heirs and assigns all and singular the following described property and tracts of land and premises, to wit: one tract of land on Yellow Bayou in the County of Newton and state foresaid conveyed by patent by Anson Jones, then president of the Republic of Texas, [and] bearing date the 29th day of August A. D. 1845, to grantee as assignee of William Pressick, number 577, volume 1, [a] bounty containing six hundred and forty acres land, and particularly described said patent. Also, one other tract of land on said Yellow Bayou in the said County of Newton and state aforesaid conveyed by Richard Simmons of said county by deed, bearing date the 3rd day of October A. D. 1846, to grantee containing twenty-eight acres of land particularly described per said deed. Which deed is recorded in the Clerk's office of the said Newton County at pages 17 and 18 of A Book. the above-described tracts of land and premises to the said William J. Robinson, his heirs and assigns in fee simple forever. Also, one negro woman, slave for life, named Sharlott, aged seventeen years. Also, one negro girl named Rachel, aged seven years, slave for life. Also, one road wagon and three yoke[s] of oxen, yoke chains, and appertunances thereunto belonging. Also, six head of horses. Also, fifty head of hogs. To have and to hold or dispose of the same to him and his heirs and assigns. And we, the said Isaac McMahan and Frances McMahan, for ourselves, our heirs and assigns, executors and administrators, do hereby covenant with the said Willaim J. Robinson, his heirs and assigns to warrant and defend the right and title to the afore-described lands and premises, slaves and chattels to the said William J. Robinson, his heirs and assigns against the claims of all and every person lawfully claiming or laying claim to any and every part thereof. In testimony whereof, we, the said Isaac McMahan and Frances McMahan, have hereunto set our hands and seals, using scroll for seals, this 2nd day of May eighteen hundred and fifty-one. Attest, R. The State of Texas, Newton County } Personally appeared before me, the undersigned authority, Isaac McMahan and his wife Frances McMahan, and acknowledged their signatures to the above, foregoing and within deed to be their own act and deed for the purposes therein expressed. Frances McMahan, being examined by me separately and apart from her husband, said that she signed the same of her own free will and that she wishes not to retract from the same. To certify which, I hereunto sign my name and affix the seal of my office this, the 12th day of May A. D. 1851. John M. The State of Texas, Newton County } Know all men by these presents that I, William J.
