Dunbar Humble Jacksonville Host

JACKSONVILLE --- Dunbar's
rampaging Tigers rambled to an
easy 34-0 victory over the Jack-
sonville Dragons here Saturday
night in their first District 7-AA
contest.

The victory gave Coach Elmer
Redd's charges a 4-1 record for
the season and a 1-0 district mark.
Dunbar scored in the first quar-
ter on a 12 yard dash by Carl
Taylor, who took a pitchout from
quarterback Isiah Ligones and
circled the end to give the Tigers
a 6-0 lead.

In the second quarter Floyd Gil-
more rambled 13 yards for the
second Dunbar touchdown. Eddie
Henderson kicked the extra point
to make the score 13-0.

After the halftime activities,
Dunbar opened ip their broken
field runners to ice the win.

Carl Taylor scored his second
touchdown of the night with a
beautiful 70 yard scamper which
baffled the Dragon defenders.

Eddie Henderson once again
made sevens out of sixes, and the
Dunbar crew led, 20-0.

Gene Brown intercepted a way-
ward Jacksonville pass early in
the fourth quater and returned
his prize 90 yards for another Ti
ger tally. He was aided by a key
block by Hollis Walton.

After Eddie Henderson converted
again, the Lufkinites, led, 27-0.

Carl Taylor brought the last
Tiger touchdown home, with a
long 80 yarder through the Jack
sonville secondary. Eddie Lender
son converted his first extra point
of the night to make the final
score read 34-0.

The Tigers meet Crockett next
Thursday night in their second
district encounter at Crockett.
