Warrant Officer Brothers was a member of the crew of a
Liberator bomber which took off on the night of the 6/7th July,
1944, to attack the target of Feuersbrunn in Austria. The aircraft failed
to return to its base, and all members of the crew, including Warrant
Officer Brothers were classified as missing. In due course his death was
officially presumed to have occurred on the 7th July 1944.

A post war casualty search revealed that the aircraft had
crashed near the town of Murska Sabota, and that all members of the crew
were buried there in the Civil Cemetery. On the cessation of hostil-
ities, the remains of all the crew, including those of Warrant Officer
Brothers, were re-interred in the Belgrade British Military Cemetery.

The crew of the aircraft contained one other New Zealander,
Flying Officer G.E.S. McNaughton of Masterton, the pilot of the
aircraft.
