Holland, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Stettin, Hamburg (2), Duisburg, and Bremen, all in Germany. On the 31st October, 1941 he proceeded to No. 15 Operational Training Unit, Harwell, Buckinghamshire and thence on the 15th November to Portreath, Cornwall, and from here he proceeded by Wellington aircraft to Malta Via Gibraltar, arriving at Luqa, Malta on the 16th November. With the Special Duties flight at Luqa in the Middle East Command he participated in a further eight operational flights being patrols along the north African Coast. He was posted from Malta to Air Headquarters, Egypt on the 17th May, 1942 and thence one week later to the Transit Camp, Alamza, Egypt, for embarkation to the United Kingdom arriving at No. 2 Personnel Reception Centre, Wilmslow, Manchester early in August, 1942. He was posted on the 9th August, 1942 to No. 42 Operational Training Unit, first at Andover, Hampshire and later at Ashbourne, Derbyshire, where he continued his training on Anson, Tiger Moth, Oxford and Miles Magister aircraft and on the 3rd February, 1943, he proceeded to 1532 Beam Approach Training Flight at Hullavington, Wiltshire, and thence early in April to No. 3 Flying Instructions School, Babdown, also at Hullavington where he flew Oxford aircraft. In March 1943 he returned to No. 42 Operational Training Unit at Ashbourne where he continued flying Anson and Oxford aircraft.

Flying Officer Forsyth was a member of the crew of a Oxford bomber aircraft which struck high tension cables and crashed near Ashbourne on 21st May, 1943, during a training flight; all the members of the crew including Flying Officer Forsyth losing their lives. He was buried in the Ashbourne Cemetery, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
