4216534 Leading Aircraftsman Kenneth John OTTER.
Father: Mr. F.R. Otter of Westmere, AUCKLAND.

Kenneth Otter was born at Stoke-on-Trent, England, on the 26th
December 1922, and accompanied his parents to New Zealand at an
early age. He received his secondary education at Mount Albert
Grammar School, and afterwards continued by night classes at
the Seddon Memorial Technical College, passing the University Entrance
Examination. He was emplyed as a warehouse assistant by Woolleys
Limited at Auckland before being mobilised for Army service with the
1st Field Artillery Regiment at Ngaurawahia on the 1st August 1941.
In September 1942 he applied for transfer to the Royal New Zealand
Air Force.

Leading Aircraftsman Otter was enlisted at Hobsonville on
the 1st December 1942, as motor boat crew and embarked for Fiji
on the 6th March 1943. He served there in this capacity until
his return to New Zealand on the 20th May 1944. After a period of
leave, he was reposted to Hobsonville on the 7th June, where he
remained until again proceeding overseas to the Pacific Area on the
22nd December 1944. He again served in a motor-boat crew, this
time at Guadalcanal, and was finally repatriated for medical reasons
on the 1st April 1945.

Leading Aircraftsman Otter was admitted to the Auckland
Public Hospital on the 16th April, but died there on account of
illness on the 9th May 1945. He was buried in the Waikumete Cemetary,
Auckland.
