1858 April 1st 1st Henry Plowing for Corn
on Branch, Sandy Plowing for Oats at
Crews I am going down to Mr Millers
about trying Garrot & Forest released Garrot
Balance of Our Hands raking
cleaning up new ground at Crews
Fired leaves raked to day to night after it begun
to Rain, raining moderately quite cool to day
Mr Chumbly helped us roll Log tho very much
complaining
& to day he is laid up, Jordan
Crossing at Crews for hilling, did not getting
raking up there

2nd april 1858 This morning & last night was really a
rainy & windy time, & to day The windy is Sev[ere]
& Rains hard water coarses high my hogs all up
last night & doing well as far as I know
quite cool with the wind & Rain, took
down Lugs in old prize Barn,=
Overseer still in the House sick

3rd wind ceased this morning cloudy all day
Halled Tobacco from mountain spring burn
& Fresh ground Barn put it in new ^prizeBarn
& – little in one Back of Garden,-
4th A Beautifull day Easter Sunday —
5th Negroes striping Tobacco for themselves
Jerry & little Henry gone after Sweet Blade
Seed my wife gone to Mrs Hunts —
Fine day Rained again last night

6th Beded up Sweet Potatoe Patch & Planted 1½ Bus
from Mr Farmers & 1 peck yams in Bed
Plowed a part of Hill for Tobacco, gone
to sewing Oats @ 12 Oclock at Crews, Sent Jerry
down after Mr. Forest Gray mule Jim which
I am to give $140. for payable next March 1859.
to go to Plantation & take Netty away —
