1863 July 20 & 21th at Pittsya CH Settling accounts; Haled
up wheat Plowing Tuesday I came home 9 or 10
oclock in the night rained that evening nearly finished
next to Susan Roarks laying by Corn, cloudy yet

22nd. laying by Corn working new ground Tobacco
stayed at home all day nearly all my destroyingoats at Keens

23rd. laying by Corn. Halling Oats from Keens working
new ground Tobacco cloudy this morning –
we have lost 5 of our Hogs lately & more sick

24th. Plowing Sweet & Irish Potatoes & Cotton at the
House till 12 oclock & then laying by Corn on Creek
went Plantation yesterday & Mount Airy

25. laying by Corn on Creek working hilling up
our Sweet & Irish Potatoes & Cotton. etc

26. Plowing on Creek till 12 oclock then finished
Plowing Cotton Plowed Peas etc & negroes plowed their
Corn & worked their Potatoes etc evening

27th my wife & Sallie went to see Mrs Glenn Rained at night

28. Plowing Sugar Kane & Lot Corn Hilling up Tobacco

29 Raining to day & yesterday working
in Tobacco some yesterday Henry gone
to Yates Mill to day 4 Bus Corn 3½ Bus wheat
for flour & Horses to be shod & some little things
also to be done I went to Plantation with Henry

30. Plowing Corn & Tobacco fencing in morning

31 Stacking Oats Ben here Plowing on
Creek etc.

augt. 1st no Horn White cow had her first calf
Stack Oats too damp & had 1 stack to take downdayn

2nd on Sunday & put it up - again

3rd work on worked here put out Tobacco.-
machining wheat at old place to day -

4. 5 & 6 Prizing good Tobacco & finished Hhd sold
Mr Harris & Plowing & Hilling Tobacco up etc
went to Mount Airy after County Salt & got it

8 Prizing Tobacco Hilling up Greens & at work in Garden
weather getting dry a little,

10. went to meeting machined wheat here & oats
finished prizing Tobacco - choping corn etc
