Dear Mother:

My back mail is catching up
with me now. Should be all
caught up in a few days. There
isn't much to write about right
now. Just a few questions of
yours to answer. No news out
here. Except of course the signing
of the formal surrender terms tomorrow.
You asked if we get any news.
Yes, in fact we print our own
little paper each day with all the
latest news. There is no need of
sending clippings about the atomic
bomb. We get the same stories
you do. We heard about the
Empire State Building as soon
as it happened. Yes your clippings
arrived.
I suppose everyone is wondering
when I will get out. about all
I need to get off the ship is a
relief. Don't know when I'll get one.
Then transportation to the States
after that it will be short and
