Dear Mother:

I have nothing to say but I know you worry when you don't hear from me so I just had to drop you a few lines to let you know I am well. I have not had any mail since I last wrote and don't expect any for sometime. I would have written sooner if there were something to say or a place to mail a letter but there was neither. I still do know when this will get of the ship but it will help to make up for some that I owe you.

Have you heard from any of my old gang lately? I owe them all letters but just don't have the ambition to write them. Wish you could do it for me.

Something just came to me as I sit here writing with another fellows pen. I don't have one of my own. Would you please get one for me when you have the chance. Not an expensive one, just some thing to write with.

Well as I said when I started I don't have anything to say and this will prove it. I'll close now. Say hello to everyone for me.

Good night mother Your loving son Georgie

I hope all is going well at home and that you are in the best of health. The same goes for Grandpop, Al, Anna and Mike. I'll get around to writing them one of these days when I have some news. Please ask them to be patient.

I am in the best of health and expect to remain that way. Things out here are going well and from what we read in the papers it is going well in Europe too. [symbol up arrow] (correction I mean paper, the one printed on the ship each day). I hope they get through over there soon. We could use a little help out here.

What is new at home?
