Dear Mother:

I have not had any mail for quite awhile so naturally I have none of your letters to answer. That makes this letter a little difficult to write for nothing new has happened lately that would interest you. I had hoped that censorship might be lifted soon and I could write a bit about where we are and what we do but so far nothing has been said about it.

I am hoping to catch up with a lot of my letter writing in the next few days but I am affraid that is to much to hope for. The job I have now is harder than if we were still fighting. It's that little thing called morale. Trying to keep the men's morale up, get our part of of the ship in peace time order and keep the men busy and out of trouble.

It's one heck of a mess at times. Now that the war is over they all want to go home and trying to show them why we might not get to right away is plenty tough especially when I want to go home as much if not more than they do. All I hope is that I can keep my boys out of trouble and busy so that the time will pass quickly. If I can do it everything will be fine but I don't know.

I hope everyone is well. I'll try to write a few of the folks in the next day or two. Give them my best. Especially that grandfather of mine. Tell him to keep that spot open in Lis' for he and I. Say you should be taking the rest of your vacation about now. Hope you have better weather than before and have loads of fun.

I'll write again soon.

Your loving son Georgie
