Dear Mother:

Have quite a bit to write about but will start by answering your questions. Most of them I answered in my last letter. I don't remember the exact date the pictures were taken but it was sometime in July. That is close enough. As for what to do about the people upstairs. Do nothing to upset yourself or Pop. If he gets out of hand have Albert go up and deck him. If he won't why just let things go until I get home. I can handle that punk. I'll be right in the mood to handle a nut, too. Don't worry about a thing until I get there. I'll take care of everything.

Now about when I'll get there. I don't know yet how soon it will be but I do know it won't be any later than Feb. '46. We have sent for replacements but things are so messed up out here in the Pacific no one knows what is going on. In fact I may

ride the Mighty "B" back. There is a a fair chance of my being in the States for Xmas but we can't count on it for sure. Unless there is a big change in the way things are going I know I won't be home for Xmas. They have lowered our points to 60 but don't let all there big talk about getting us out fool you. That is just for the public. I am much better off than most men out here. But I think its about time the people back home wrote their congressmen and let them know they are not fooling the boys out here. They better get hot if they want to keep their jobs. I know a bit more about my chances of getting home but I can not say anything now.

Now about stars. We have been in sixteen actions but all were not important enought to rate stars. If you do not already have the ribbons I asked for will you please get three bronze stars in the Pacific ribbon instead of two. That will make it one silver and three bronze stars in the Pacific. We were just authorized a star for the consolidation of the northern Solomans.

I guess you were expecting me much sooner but lets not be disappointed and feel low. It will all work out in the end. And don't let that other little matter you mentioned to me get you down.

Now a bit of news. Had a letter from Gloria and she said Celia was going to be married Sept 30th. Quite a surprise to me. Have you seen her lately?

P.S. We are still in Brisbane. Not much to say about the place. Will probably get to see quite a bit of this country before we leave.
