Dear Mother:

I have just reread all your letters that I have recieved in the last few days in hopes of finding something to write about but there is very little. First I am enclosing the receipt for my insurance which was sent to me for God knows why.

To bad about all the sickness in Ellen's family. Thought I might go out and see Samuelsen's grave but am so busy now getting ready to leave and we don't get off in the afternoon so it is just about impossible.

No to set you straight about cruisers, you remembered correctly. Light cruisers are called such because their main battery is only five or six inch guns. Heavy cruisers have eight inch main battery guns. The "B" and ships of her class all longer and heavier than some of our so called heavy cruisers. That should cover it. It is all in the guns not the weight.

Now for my blood type, sorry you are wrong. I am type "O". Don't know exactly how it works. As far as going aboad a ship for a visit when I get home, I can't see it but I'll do my best to get you aboard one and explain all I can. Think you will be disappointed though.

What is all this about you jointing the Eastern Star. You never said anything about it until you were about in. Hope you will enjoy it. As for me joining the masons, I'll think it over when I get home.

Well that just about covers the letters. Right now I am all packed and just waiting to leave the ship. It may be in an hour or it may not be until tomorrow morning. But in any case we should get to the States by Dec. 11. And it looks like I'll be home for Xmas. Don't want any gifts though, being home will be enough. And besides I won't be bringing any except myself. But please don't take this as definite. You can never be sure of anything. Don't build up your hopes for it is possible I may not get

there for Xmas. But it looks good.

Hope you will contact Marian as soon as possible. It will mean a lot to me.

I'm case you have forgotten, stop writing now. They will never reach me until I get home. Tell Pop to have a keg in the cellar I'll be dry. Hope everyone is well at home.

I'll write when I can.

Your loving son Georgie
