Dear Mother:

Well here I am again after all
this time. The trip from Brisbane to
Pearl Harbor was uneventful. By the
way we are in Pearl now. We boarded
this ship on the 19th of Nov. and left
Brisbane the morning of the 20th. It took
us eighteen days to get here. A hell of
a long time. We hope to leave here
tomorrow afternoon. Should get to
the west coast about the 18th or 19th.
That leaves me something less than
a week until Xmas so it does not
seem possible for me to make it
by then. There is a very slight chance
though but I won't count on it. Go
right ahead with your plans for Xmas
if I do get there all right in not no ones
plans will be upset. I am sure to be
home for New Year's.

In one of my last letters I asked you
to have some money ready to send me
