STOP 116- RAJASTHAN:
ABU , I-10-62

The little town of Abu is located in a gently rolling plateau near the top of Mt. Abu itself. The forest around the town is not as thick as the forest lower down, perhaps because of drier conditions, but also because of woodcutters. Euphorbia and thorny bushes replace some of the larger trees, though many old mango trees grow in town and around the lake there. Most specimens were taken visiting flowers or browsing about the vege-tation surrounding the lake. Weather warm and sunny.
100 specimens.

Near the little railroad station of CHANCHELAO there is a steep granite outcrop rising out of a plains forest. The trees were being heavily cut by loggers, leaving large areas of the flatland nearly bare of cover. Specimens were taken primarily under granite stones around the outcrop.
