Mr J.W. Stow
Sr Sir
Your esteemd favors of 7th & 10th have come to land
since my last time of uniting. Replying would say, the crowbars are being
made & will go firm and soon. We note your remark in regard to the
keeping a continual stream of staple articles on the way & we coincide
with you in that matter & shall do so. But at the same you must order
for youself and all orders will be filld promptly. We shall try to
send you during this month to get off to you samples of almost all
the goods we have sampled in our N.Y. {.....}, by steamer - But
you must be aware that such shipments are troublesome to get
up & pack & it takes a great deal of time. You have {stined} us
up so effectivley now that we do not know which end we stand
on. We have two men doing nothing else but attend to California
wants. Of one thing you can depend we intend to sustain you in all
your efforts. We think with the assistance of William we think you
are full or well qualified to order as we to send on our judgment
thence we shall expect you to do it soon. during the interim we
shall keep the staples traveling toward the land of promise.
We shall not be able to get off any Padlox of R&E Mf Co make
under 3 mos. [months] but the matter in going on. We shall probably within
a week close a contract with Washburn for a fall supply of

with, say 1000 Bundles first shipment - We shall give Fairbanks
a severe try for his scale agency. We shall send first, samples
of our regular outside goods from mix complete by Str. [Saturday] 13.th very fine.
& very saleable [sellable] and small stock via Isthmus. Also Belt Hoox.
You must order picks & Handles we cannot tell what is just the thing
but we know they are very particular we will write Douglas axe co &
find out what kind of handles are needed for the picks they sent
you & get them off at once You must be as patient as possible.
We see the difficulties you are contending with and are using every
{...eition} to help you out. Our fear is we will not get goods enough to you
