We gave Letter of introduction to Mr H. W. Shipman to you, which we could not very well refuse; but we can say here, what was not so proper there, that should he want any money or other valuables, we do not authorize you to aid him in that way on our a/c, being as he is a reduced Gentleman & not likely, owing to rather customary habits, of rising again right away

Your very very acceptable letter 20 ulta justr rec yesterday -
A simple acknowledgement of the money is all I have time for now, altho I have a great deal to say - We paid Holmes Booth & Hayden all above the 700$ long ago and continue to pay them monthly so that all the " consignment" seems to amount to is this - In consideration of 700$ stock which they carry - we buy what we want over that amount and pay them regularly - This we shall probably

continue to do so long as we can buy as cheaply of them as elsewhere.
Nails are now 650 5% off cash - other changes have taken place lately but I suppose Mr Oliver keeps you advised
The great difficulty of getting goods is more apparent daily.
