Dear Sister I join with Martin in writing a few
lines to you; we got your letter the 23 and was
glad to hear from you we have got his likenes [likeness]
but as Tanners folks are going out There in
Decender [December] and you come home with them, the
postage would a considerable, we have to be saving
of our coffers to pay that mortgage for if that
aint paid the Underwoods will divide the farm
they threaten of it now, but we aint very badly
scart [scared]; if you want we should send that likeness
write and we will, when you come home we will
get ours taken and send to Cal I have not
got any thing new and dont [don't] expect to have as
we shall be so deadly pinched.

Ann Lewises wife's Underwood has got a little girl baby
