Dear Mother and sisters i got your letter
of March 15th yesterday by express i was glad
hear from you. i am in the mines again
for the last time, i think. i had a
letter from Martin dated Angels Camp
May 19th he was to start the next day for
Walkers River 100 mytes miles distant on
a prospecting tour. if he finds anything
that will pay i shall go

i am plum run out of news. i dont [don't]
Know what to write about there is
nothing here that would interest you
if you was as well acquainted around
here as i am there i might write some
news perhaps. but there aint nothing
unless i tell you how miners live.

i will tell you how i do and you can
guess of the rest. in the first place
work all the week then go to town
Saturday night come home rather late
go to bed later get up later still
get breakfast then wash my shirt
i aint got but one and now i shall
stop writing a minute to put it on
if it is dry ........ This is a most
delightful place to live, cool & nice
