to return worse off both as regards money and health but
thank Heaven should we live to each home I trust
we have many kind friends there who would not see
us suffer for want of the necesarries [necessities] of life not-
withstanding we have wronged them. The last few
lines are intended for myself -- to represent my own
care. Did not think, when I wrote you for money that
I could live without you, as I had forgotten the circum-
stance but as soon as I read your letter it came to my
mind. I recieved the draft as I wrote you before from
Esq. Jewett since which time I have sent Mr. H. A. Walton
another draft for $500. which I desired him to collect of
Esq. J. & hand the money to Mr. Turnbull to invest in
goods for me and ship them to Y. & M. of this city, & I have now
again made up my mind not to send home for
any more money at present, but to keep quiet so long
as what I have got on hand lasted & then to send home
for just enough to get me back & start immediately

You write that you have done all you could do in
order to assist me. a fact that I am well aware of
as you have ever done. so but for all your kindness &
trouble, & anxiety I can at present return you nought
but my sincere thanks. I should think Mrs. Corant was
rather fast for getting her pay for M's tuition but suppose
the consequentials who invited themselves down to dine with
you Thanksgiving advised him to do so. -- Am aware that Esq.
J. has also done all he could to assist me. Am very
