San Francisco June July Monday Morn 11th 1853

My Dear Mother,

Your kind & very acceptable
letter dated June 2d was recieved [received] the 7th inst.
together with one from Charles. I was very happy
to hear from you again -- to hear that you were
all enjoying such good health & getting along so
finely with all your affairs, & I sincerely hope
your present prosperity may long continue.

My health continues good & I am still at work
for your Cousin Shipley as when I last wrote.

I intended to have commenced writing you
yesterday, but had so much work on hand to do.
(Corned beef & cabbage to boil, room to clean up paint
& windows to wash &c) that I neglected to write at all
consequently I shall now be obliged to write a
few lines at a time just as I have an opportunity
for the mail leaves here before another Sunday
but I shall endeavor to write as long a letter as I
have done heretofore & I hope it may not prove un-
interesting to you, as you say my previous ones
have not done. For my part the greatest treat
I enjoy is in perusing the letters recieved [received] from
you C. & H. & others, particularly Mr T's family
-- I must now go to my work --

Noon Have eaten my dinner & again seated my-
self to write a few lines -- over
