enjoy each others society. I have been rather unfortunate
here in some respects, still when I compare my
situation with hundreds of others who have left
good homes & kind friends & are now here nearly
destitute, I think I ought to be thankful for the
blessings I have enjoyed To be sure I have improved
my monetary affairs but little still I have con-
stantly enjoyed the best of health (which is to be
prized far above gold) while others have fallen
victims to disease & been cut off in the prime
of Life, while I have been spared, & as long as I
enjoy good health & have the where with to procure
the necessaries of life I think I ought not to com-
plain. even if I do meet with some difficulties
& am deprived of the luxuries of a good home ---
In the way of advice. I would say to all those
who have a good home kind friends &c never leave
them. for they can in no way better themselves
& after a person has roamed around for awhile
they never can content themselves anywhere nei-
ther at home nor abroad for they are continually
thinking that there is a better place -- a place
where they can live easier -- make more money
or do something -- they hardly know what ---
Give my love to Chas. & Hattie & tell C. that I
hope he will soon be "well & hearty"
Tell H. that the few lines she wrote were very
acceptable, & that I shall be happy to hear from her
often. As I wrote her by last mail she must excuse
me from writing now.
