Mr Dear Mother,

I received by last mail sev-
eral letters, which I shall endeavor to answer by
the next mail which leaves here, April 1st & as
I always write you before any one else, I have
commenced this early in order to have time to
attend to all my correspondents.

The 20th inst -- I not only received letters from
you & Hattie but also from Friends Lizzie, Lydia
C. Tucker
, Cousin Jennie & J. A. Tucker. It is need-
less for me to say that all of the above letters were
very acceptable, but more especially those post marked
East Pepperell.

I was happy to hear that you all continue
to enjoy good health & I hope the same blessing
may long be bestowed upon you as well as upon my-
self, also that our lives may be spared long after
the time when we again meet, so that I may prove
myself a solace & comfort to you in your declining
years, which Heaven grant may be happier than
those you have already lived through.

I am again allowed the privilege of informing
you that my health remains good, & I hope it will
continue so, while I remain in this country at least
for it is one of the worst places in the world for a per-
