Notwithstanding all the trouble which Mr Tucker
has been to, on my account, in settling my affairs
with Esq. Jewett, he has only charged me $8.30 which
amount he has actually paid out for fare to Pepperell
and back to Boston and for legal advice!

After sending his account he goes on and says "If
I have settled the account to your satisfaction, I
am glad, if not I will try to effect one that will
be satisfactory to you
." Is not this a generous act? --
and a further proof of his kindness towards me?

It will never do for me to continue asking favors
of him and I cannot do it unless he will recieve [receive]
some compensation for his time and trouble.

I of course intended to pay him for settling
with Esq. J. and had I known that he did not
intend to charge anything, I should not trouble him
to send me goods, but it is too late now as I must
accept his generosity and shall endeavor to return it
in some manner sooner or later.

Trade with me at my bookstore is tolerably
good, but I had a pair of Colt Pistols stolen from
me last week which cost me in the neighborhood
of $45 -- so that it spoiled the profits of our week's
trade -- but I must of course meet with some drawbacks.

Give my love to Charles & Harriet. Tell C. that I have
recieved [received] papers from him regularly for several mails.

With this please accept the love of
Your affct [affectionate] Son
H. A. Parker [Henry A. Parker]

[written upside down & left to right in the top margin]
As the Steamer leaves tomorrow noon I think I will get my letters
ready and take them to the post office tonight for I do not wish
to miss sending you a letter regularly by every mail --
