The Schooners S.D. Bailey and Ostolan in
which I am interested both arrived here this
last week, one from San Pedro and the other
from Crescent City. They had both done very
well, and will probably clear me, at the rate
of $100 per month, each one, which will be about
six per cent a month, on the amount of money
which I have got invested in them, so taking
everything I have probably made $300. this
past month, but I shall turn it in towards
paying my debts, which now amount to $800, then
I have got $500 owing to me which I consider good,
so that I shall soon clear myself from debt if
I meet with no mishap, and am economical.

Noyes Ephraim Noyes, Searles, and myself intend to hire a room
today and all move into it, so as to be together
as much as possible. Then if we like we can
accommodate ourselves with board and do our
own washing which will be a great saving to
us, as provisions here at the present time are
very low while board is about the same
as when I first came out here so if boarding
houses could pay expenses then they must be
making money now, and if they can make
money by taking boarders we can save money
by boarding ourselves. -- You were right in sup-
posing that "business card" which I sent you to be
Mr Zalucur's the man who employed me and the
one that I bought my stand of. He is a nice man
