Blade" and Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] having been one of the
unfortunate passengers, was obliged to return
back here to San Francisco, where he now thinks
he shall remain until I get ready to accompany
him on his journey home. The letters which I
intended to have him take to you, I enclosed
with a few lines which I wrote by last Steamer
and I hope you will receive all in safety
after a delay of two weeks. No doubt you will
wonder why you do not get any letters from
me about the 1st of Nov. (not knowing that
they were wrecked) but time will give you
the whys and wherefores.

I laughed when, I read what Harriet
told Mr Lewis about the letter you was expecting
"that she guessed, it was writ" and you may
depend that they will continue to be "writ" as
regularly as they heretofore have been.

My health remains as good as ever, and
I cannot imagine that I have changed one
mite since I left home. I mean in looks.

Our business at the stand continues to
be very good, our profits amounting yesterday
to $11.95 and today $10.61. This however is rather
more than a fair average, but still we do
very well taking the month together, and I
now expect Mr N [Ephraim Noyes] will take a stand belonging
to Mr Galucar to tend on shares, in the course of
