people about forty years of age, who
look as old as you did at Fifty ---

Then again it seems to me whenever I
think of you, that you have changed but
little since I last saw you. Still I
suppose you have altered somewhat,
but do not think you have grown old
in looks very fast ---

Thursday Evening Feb 8th -- I am well this
evening, and have just finished my days
work, so thought I would write you a few
lines more, tonight as the Steamer leaves
here tomorrow morning ---

We have had rather a damp un-
comfortable day, of it, and judging from
present appearances we shall have a
long storm. Rain is very much needed
throughout the whole state, and the
miners and farmers, are doing but
little owing to the want of water, so I
hope we shall now have a few days
of rainy weather, as I think it would
benefit all claims, as business here
in San Francisco is very dull at the
present time, although Mr Noyes and
I are doing about as well as usual
on an average ---
