San Francisco Feby [February] 15th 1855

Dear Mother

The mail that left New
York
on or about the 20th January, has
not yet arrived here, although it is
hourly expected -- so of course I have not
received a letter from you since the
first of the month -- but I shall write
you a few lines, just to let you know
how I am situated at present ---

I am as well as usual, but Mr
Noyes has been unwell for a week past
so much so that he has been unable to
attend to business. I have not seen
him since day before yesterday as he
went up to Mrs Galacars last Saturday
and has only been down to the stand once
since then, I am in hopes he will
get along though without being very
sick -- and I also hope he will soon
be able to attend to business again as it
will be a satisfaction to him, and
will render my task much easier
and relieve me of a great deal of care.
