My Dear Mother,

Your kind and very
welcome letter dated March 15th was received
last evening, and now tis spread out
before me. You commenced your letter
by saying that it was "a dull stormy day"
so likewise is the day a dull stormy one
when I am commencing my letter to you,
and for three or four days past we have
had dull rainy weather, but most of
the rain seems to fall during the night.

I was pleased to hear that you
Charles & Hattie were enjoying good health
when you wrote, -- a blessing to be prized
above all earthly things.

My health continues good, so that I
am able to attend closely to my business,
which is now paying tolerably well.

I find that I have much less
work to do, and much less care upon
my mind, when Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] is well, and
attending to business, than I do when
he is away, although we hired a man
in his place, while he was absent, but
