My Dear Mother

It is now time
for me to write you, if I wish to
keep up my weekly correspondence as
the Steamer leaves here tomorrow
morning, and I have written you
so regularly of late that I do not now
like to omit writing you, whenever I
have the opportunity of sending a letter,
for it is a great pleasure for me to
write a letter home, and I always feel
a sort of satisfaction -- a pleasant
satisfaction whenever I send you a
letter. -- Then again now that I have
been so regular in writing I fear you
might feel disappointed if you were
not to receive a letter from me every
week.

My health remains good and I
am getting along tolerably well although
am not doing as well now, as I have
done most of the time for six months
past, but am able to make a living
and lay up something every month beside.
