Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] health has been improving
ever since he returned from Oregon
so that he is quite smart at the
present time, and I think has
given up the idea of returning home
before next spring unless something
unusual takes place in his affairs.

We continue to get along well
together, and are making money
out of our stands, and I think
my business will continue good
through the summer if we only
confine ourselves as closely to business
as we do at the present time ---

I have received no letters from
Sam Tucker [Samuel P. Tucker] since the 20th of Jany [January]
last, but have heard by way of
some of my acquaintances here who
have been receiving letters from Columbia
that Sam, was well and at work
mining the same as usual.

John Griffin is at work mining
near Columbia, and John Keep also ---

Then there is Charles Wright, Thos.
Chapin
[Thomas Chapin], and I believe some one else
who belongs somewhere in our neighborhood
all of them at or near Columbia, so
I think they can get together and have a
sociable time
