I did not receive Mr. Tuckers miniature
either which I was expecting, nor even a letter
from him or any one of his family. So I
was disappointed on all sides.

I do not know but Mr T. was unwell
for I was expecting that he would write
as he gave me to understand by the last
letter I received from him that he should
write again in the course of a fortnight and
send a bill of more book that he has
shipped me from New York. But I hope
he and his family are all as well as
usual, and that I shall not only receive
a letter from him in the course of a week
but also receive a miniature -----

Today is the third day, or Sunday rather
that we have kept our stands closed al-
together, and we are well pleased so far
with our new arrangement, as it gives
us time to rest, to write our friends, and
renders it much pleasanter for us in every
respect, and I think we shall sell just
as many goods for a year to come if we
do not keep open Sundays as we should if
we did. Public opinion is getting to be against
sending business of all kinds, and a great
many who have heretofore done business on
