San Francisco July 8th 1855
"Sunday Eve"

My Dear Mother,

I am now seated in my
room alone, Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] having gone to Santa Cruz,
and Mr Millet to church. -- I concluded to
remain at home, and have just been taking
a look at the "Parker Family" -- or rather their
miniatures which now lay spread out
before me. Within the coming week I hope
to receive a new edition of three of the
"members" and I also hope that I shall
not be disappointed as I was when the last
mail arrived, and from what you wrote
about your intentions of going to Nashua soon,
I think I may reasonably expect something
by the next mail Steamer ---

Mr Tucker may also conclude to send
his along at about the same time -- If he does
then I shall feel "all right"

My health is as good as usual, and
I am situated just the same.

Our business is fine, although we shall
not probably do as well at our stand this
month as we did last, still I think
we can always do a very fair business
just as long as we keep them --

[written vertically in the left and top margins]

Monday morning July 16th. Am well this morning, and hope you are blessed
with good health. I have been to the office again but can get no letter from you so
it is either lost altogether or was too late to come by this mail. I shall look for it by
next mail

Tomorrow if I
live so long I shall be 23 years
of age
H.A.P. [Henry A. Parker]

I should have
taken your min-
iatures for a
birthday present
but as you could
not get them ready
to mail in time
for me to get them
now I feel sat-
isfied
