your looks are concerned, but I suppose you
feel sometimes as though you were growing old.
I hope however that your life may yet be
spared for many years to come, and that
you may live comfortably and happily, for
I am well aware, that when Harriet, Charles
and myself, are called upon to part from
you on earth --- at that time we shall lose
our best, and only true friend, we have in
this world. May the time be far distant when
we shall be called upon to part from each other
or separated, otherwise than we now are ---

I am very sorry that you met with so
severe an accident, then again I am thankful
that it was no worse and that you had
already recovered from the effects of your fall,
when you last wrote. Hope in future that
you will be more fortunate --- that you
will escape from all accidents and continue
to enjoy good health as my most earnest
wish is that we may yet meet again, so
that I may, by my kindness towards you,
make amends for my past conduct, and
prove myself worthy to be called your Son.

I am pleased to hear that C. [Charles] & H [Harriet] are so
kind towards you and do so much, to
assist you, and make you happy and
comfortable. Such conduct towards you will
