the 18th inst, so I shall probably have time to
write you a few lines after I receive your letter
of the 20th July, so I will now lay aside
my writing and bid you -- Good Night --

Thursday Eve Aug 16th The mail Steamer has not
yet arrived, although the Nicaragua Steamer with
passengers, that left New York the same day as
the mail Steamer left there, has now been in
5 1/2 days, so the mail is now considerably over=
due, and I hope will arrive tonight, so that
I shall get your letter in time to write a few
words in return, as the Steamer does not leave here
until day after tomorrow --

Night before last, a young German fellow
who has a stand near ours where Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes]
tends, was robbed of a much larger amount
of goods than we were, and probably by the
same villians [villains]. He lost 500 Pocket Knives, that
he says cost him $250.

Mr N. [Noyes] and I have learned a lesson and
have got things so arranged now that it is
almost impossible for any one to rob us of
anything valuable. --- My health is good
as usual. Mr N. [Noyes] is also well and sends his
best respects to you, Chas [Charles] & Hattie [Harriet] ---

Give my love to C [Charles] & H. [Harriet] and ask them to
write me whenever convenient --

Wishing you health and happiness
I remain
your affct [affectionate] Son
H. A. Parker [Henry A. Parker]
