San Francisco August 29th 1855

My Dear Mother,

A new arrangement has
been made since I last wrote you, in regard
to the sailing of the Mail Steamers, as they are
now to leave here for Panama, on the 5th and 20th
of each month instead of the 1st and 16th as
heretofore. I do not know whether the Nic-
aragua Line intend to change this time of
sailing so as to leave the same days as the
mail steamers do, or not -----

Now, unless they change the days of sailing
from New York. I shall always receive all
your letters in time to answer them by return
mail. Your last letter date July 17th I read
the 18th inst. the same day that the outward
bound steamer took her departure -----

I was pleased to hear that you were all
well and that you were gaining strength
after having nearly recovered from the effects
of your fall, down stairs. Hope you are
now quite well, and that you will long
remain so. I was also glad to hear that
most of our acquantances [acquaintances] were as well as
usual. I was somewhat acquainted with
Francesca Bolles, and Samuel Hutchinson ----
