Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] trip to Oregon proved to us a profitable
one, as we were very successful in every respect.

He took with him mony [money] belonging to us to
the amount of $1425.00 with which he bought
3500 lbs of Butter, about 800 dozen Eggs, 600 lbs of Beans
2 bushels of Apples, and a few oats. He brought the
above articles down on the Steamer with him
and we have sold them all off, and find
that we have got in hand after paying all
the expenses of the trip $2025.00 so we made
clear $600. or $300. apiece, which we consider
a good speculation. Butter cost us in Oregon
from 20 to 40 cts. [cents] we sold it here at from 50 to
70 cts. Eggs cost from 25 to 30 cts we sold them
for, from 50 to 80 cts per [dz?]. Beans 4 1/2 cts per lb. sold
for 7 cts per lb. Oats 1 1/2 cts per lb. sold for 2 cts per lb.

Apples $500 [$5.00] per bushel cost, we sell for 37 1/2 cts per
lb or about $16 per bushel. The above speculation
together with the profits derived from our stands,
and schooners, brought us in an income for
the month, commencing the 20th of Sept and ending
the 20th of Oct. of about $600 apiece, which is
by far the largest amount of money we ever
made or ever expect to make in one month
during our stay in California ---

and I can do well any where, for we get along
