sickness for I would rather lay down my life than
see one hair of her head suffer pain if I could
prevent it although I am glad to hear she is impro-
veing [improving] fast.

I recieved [received] Marys [Mary's] letter at the same time I received
yours

I am also very sorry to hear of Caroline's ill-
health. I hope she will soon be well enough to go
to school. I am glad to hear little Henery is getting
along so well. tell him when his uncle Don comes
home he will bring him some gold for little Henry.
I am very sorry to hear of the Misfortune that
occurred to Henerys [Henery's] Mother it seems so hard
for a old lady of her age to be crippled more even
than a younger one.

I am not surprised at all of Henry and Jarvis
getting shaved by Peckham. I hope that account
of mine did not cause any trouble in the settle-
ment. tell Henry that I will write to him
on the fifteenth of this month as then I shall
then be in San Francisco and shall be able
to give better information in regard to the
country. I have traveled over the most of the North-
ern mines and part of the Southern so that
I can give pretty correct information in regard to
the mines but he wants to know of the cities
as well as the mines and I shall try to give
as correct and true a statement as possible.
