Dear Sister

I recieved [received] your long looked for and Very
Welcome letter of Dec 24th on the 16th of the present
month a letter Was advertised for John Cornick so
I sent for it but it was directed to John or doctor
William Cornick and from Col de Russey of the
Topographical Engineers. so this propably [probably] accounts
for part of the letters that have been sent to me.
I seen a letter for Dr William Cornock advertised
sometime since so you see that I am not the only Cor-
nock on the Pacific Coast.

I suppose by this time that Elizabeth is Mrs
Gardenier
. Well so the World goes. We both Wish her
much joy and you must kiss the Bride for us.

I am very glad to hear that all the family are well
and I Infer from your letter that father has got plenty
of Work Which I am glad to hear. I was prepared to hear
of his being out of a job at the Furnace from what I
have seen in the papers. I would have sent him some
money to have helped him through the winter but
I came to this place a stranger and did not know
What I was going to do and moveing [moving] Eighty or ninety
miles in this Country and buy little things we want
and putting up a house and our Winters provisions
