gets here of forty or fifty dollars per month
and from that to one Hundred and twenty five
but it is not the best place in the world for
good morals which will be seen in the records
of the divorces in San Francisco where there
is nearly two divorces to one Marriage
and there is four parts without a divorce
Where there is one with it.

Provisions have been cheap all the winter. Flour
is six dollars per hundred Potatoes two to four cts [cents]
per pound Butter fifty cts [cents] Beef steak twenty cts [cents].
So you see that our liveing [living] is nearly as cheap
as yours. I have had a claim that has paid from nothing
to seven dollars per day but on a average
about two or three. I have been working on
it since last november [November] and i [I] think in about
another month it will pay better as we have not
been able to get into what we call the
best of it.

My wife joins with me in sending her love to
you and all the rest of the family and hope it
will find you as it leaves us in go [good] health
