is very little if any more than from the Agricultural districts
of our own as the vessels are so much larger that run to
Oregon.

The weather has been delightful here all winter and spring until
the last of May and first of the present month when it got to
be very hot but it has moderated some now.

We are all well now Little Mary Caroline is the very picture
of health and my Wife is getting nearly as strong as she was
before her sickness.

Another California Drama was enacted here night
before last about two miles from here there was a
suspension bridge across the Moguelumne [Mokelumne]
River on the road to Sacremento [Sacramento]. sometime in
the night a party of horse thieves were running
a band of horses across this bridge. the bridge
gave way throwing the most of the horses into
the river leaving Eighteen Horses and Mules
dead and on the rocks and on the river banks. the
bridge was not quite finished and the people in charge
live about a mile below there so nothing is
known in regard of the matter as to who the
thieves were where they came from or where
they were going to or wether [whether] they got away with
any of the horses or if any of the men were
drownded [drowned].

Give our respects to Elizabeth and her Husband
also to Mary & James. I should like to hear
from you All by every Mail please to stick
