peculiar affection, which transcends all other earthly loves,
without destroying,
any of them.

The duties that grow out of
the relation are those of fidelity;
constancy; deference; forbearance;
community of feeling, interest, and
endeavor; delight in one anothers [another's] so-
-ciety; a never ended courtship; &
a love that brightens with the flight
of years.

And the blessings that proceed
from it, are companionship;
solace; sympathy; a lightening
of burdens; a division2 of sorrows;
a diversion1 of evils; a provision
against untimely griefs; a manifolding of all ordinary enjoyments; are all
the peculiar joy of satisfaction of those pure desires which, accom-
-plished, which is are sweet to the soul.
