Always ascribes deeds to the best motives
poss. [possible] in the case – while it is but too
common to change them to the worst.

VII "Rejoiceth not in iniquity –
but rejoiceth in the truth."

Delight not in men's
vices or crimes. No malicious
pleasure in hearing of others wrong con-
-duct. Men rejoice if an Enemy,
or persecutor, or slanderer – is caught
in some vile deed – & exult in
the downfall – – not so "love".

Some take joy in beholding Xn [Christian] im-
-perfect [imperfection] – in witnessing the occasion-
-al dishonor wh. [when] professors of rel. [religion] do
their cause by evil conduct –
